Ramsbottom 118-1 Accrington 85

With the holidays season well and truly underway I decided to blood some of the U11s 2 of those only still 10 and will have an extra year at U11s next season. What a good decision this proved to be. Tom Parky won the toss and elected to bat first and after withstanding a hostile opening spell from two very tall bowlers the batters started to dominate. Tom Parkinson retired on 33, Tom Godsell got 20 and Nick Howard retired on 30. But giving much needed impetus at the end of the innings Bradley Fielding came in and nurdled then hit a couple of fours to finish. 17 not out. After a few lusty blows from the Accrington batters the bowlers started to pitch the ball up and the fielders came alive. Matt Donnely took a great catch stood up to Tom Parkinson and there were 4 run outs the highlights a great piece of fielding from Josh Dentith and a direct hit by Johnny Howard.
Wednesday 4th August 2010
Darwen 61 Ramsbottom 117-2

With another U11 coming into the side due to a late cry off it was going to have to be another team performance and yet again the young guns played a major role. Batting first again, scoring proved difficult on a football field outfield. Tom Parkinson reached 26, Tom Godsell got 28 and Nick Howard smashed his way to another retirement - 30. Now the turn of the bowlers Ben Reid and Louie Collinson opened the bowling and both got 2 wickets from there 2 overs with Louie's figures an impressive 2 over 2 wickets for 4 runs. After a solid partnership from Darwen's middle order it took something special to get a wicket and Louie produced a fantastic catch at mid wicket. Enter Bradley Fielding into the bowling attack and after his 3 overs his figures were 4 wickets for 7 runs. Daniel Parkinson finished off Darwen with the last wicket helped by his older brother Tom.

Can I just thank all the parents for their support over the season and especially the last couple of days.

Thanks

Ashley.
