Junior Cricket Blossoming At Acre
Bottom

In recent weeks two of our talented youngsters have made
significant steps in their development at Acre Bottom. The two players
in question are Tom Parton & Charlie Hamilton. Both have represented the
area schools team in Bury. And also on a larger scale have played
at county level for North Lancashire. But its the rise through the ranks
at Acre Bottom that will most interest our members. Tom made his first
XI debut last season when only 14, when he stood in for the injured
Richard Hevingham at Bacup exactly one year ago this week (Bacup
v Ramsbottom scorecard 2009) Tom had one victim, conceded no byes &
was 2 not out at close of play.
Tom Parton
This season Tom has taken up the captaincy of the Third XI & continues
to be first choice keeper for the Second XI. This week though saw Tom
pass another milestone at the club, he scored his maiden senior cricket
century in the Third XI game v Enfield at Acre Bottom, 119 not out. The
unfortunate thing being that he still ended up on the losing side! And
all this from a lad who is still not sixteen. There is a fantastic
future ahead for Tom and the rest of the Lancashire League should take
note.
The
second of our star youngsters is spin bowler Charlie Hamilton. Charlie
this week made his First XI home bow, in the 20/20 fixture v Bacup on Friday
night once again after is debut 12 months ago in 20/20, last year he
took 4 wkts in the game at Rawtenstall (Rawtenstall
v Ramsbottom scorecard 2009) Again Charlie is only 15 and he was the stand out bowler on
friday
night with figures of 2-15 from his 4 overs. Two superb catches from Faf
du Plessis giving Charlie his two well earned victims.
Charlie is also going to be a great asset to us at Ramsbottom. Credit
must also be given to our Junior section for the work & commitment shown
to encourage the best out of the players we have at Ramsbottom Cricket
Club. And both these players should be a
Charlie Hamilton
fine example to all our juniors
from under 9's upwards that with hard work anything is possible.
Both these players can be seen in action on Wednesday
night for the under 15's at Acre Bottom when they take on St Helens CC
in the ECB Lancs Knock out Semi-final.
